Hinsdale Man Charged With Heroin Possession: Cops
Police arrested man after responding to a disturbance in town, report says.
HINSDALE, IL — In the last few days, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving drugs, a repeated egging, a DUI and a scam. Here is information from the police reports:
Drug possession
- James M. Meyer, 35, of Hinsdale, was arrested about 8 p.m. June 13 in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Police were called to a disturbance. Once there, they found Meyer had a warrant for his arrest. He was in possession of three bags that contained a substance that tested positive for heroin. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Renia L. Thomas, 35, of Forest Park, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 900 block of North Washington Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance, obstructing identification, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and illegal transportation of alcohol. Thomas was stopped on West Ogden Avenue. An officer detected a strong odor of marijuana from the car. Thomas was in possession of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine. She was also in possession of open alcohol containers. Thomas was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Repeated egging

- Eggs were thrown at a house by several teenagers while the victim was sitting outside June 15 in the 500 block of North Lincoln Street. The victim reported that the suspects returned a second time and threw eggs over the resident's fence. The victim also received a phone call shortly after the eggs were thrown from someone who used disturbing language. The incidents were reported the next day.
DUI
- Joseph H. Tromp, 33, of Western Springs, was arrested about 2 a.m. June 13 on charges of DUI and speeding. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Scam

- A resident in the 10 block of North Vine Street received a letter May 11 from the Brevard County Fire Rescue in Orlando, Florida, asking him to submit insurance information for an ambulance transport. The victim denied visiting Florida recently and did not authorize any ambulance services. The resident filed a report June 15.
