Hinsdale Obituary: Philip A. Conway, 81

Philip was a decorated Korean War Veteran.

Philip A. Conway, 81, of Highland Park, IL, former longtime resident of Hinsdale, IL, at rest November 2, 2015. Beloved husband of 49 years to the late Marilyn (nee Menning); proud father of Jane, Sarah, and Jennifer (Edward Sharkey); cherished grandfather of Anne, Elizabeth, and Frederick; dear brother of Mary Colleen DeMareo. Born in LaSalle, IL, he attended a one-room schoolhouse, Cox School. He graduated high school from St. Bede Academy. A decorated Korean War Veteran serving from 1952-1954, he volunteered as a Forward Observer, Artillery, U.S. Army. Thereafter, he graduated cum laude from Loras College and earned a Master of Labor and Industrial Relations from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was founder and president of his own management consulting firm for over 35 years. A Renaissance man, he was a Golden Gloves boxer, a varsity high school and college football player, and an actor in both professional and community theatre productions. He played conga drums, composed whimsical verse, and served as a library board president. He enjoyed each day and feared nothing. Services private.
