Hinsdale Orchestra Announces Youth Solo Contest

The West Suburban Symphony Orchestra is accepting applications from young musicians to compete for a $500 prize and the opportunity to perform with the orchestra in concert at Hinsdale Central High School on May 5, 2019. Other music on the concert program, which will be conducted by Maestro Peter Lipari, includes Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, Georges Bizet’s L’arlesienne, and overtures by Leonard Bernstein and Dmitri Shostakovich.

The competition, now in its 72^nd year, is open to high-school-age string, brass, woodwind and vocal musicians. Applications with audition recordings are due January 9, 2019, with finalists advancing to a live audition in La Grange on February 23.
