Hinsdale Police Release Arrest Numbers from Super Bowl Weekend

No drunk drivers were arrested the weekend of the game despite increased patrols by Hinsdale cops.

Hinsdale police released their arrest numbers from Super Bowl weekend on Monday, and no drunk drivers were caught by police during the notoriously rowdy event, according to a release.

The Hinsdale Police Department, alongside several other departments across Illinois, participated in increased patrols and enforcement Super Bowl weekend in line with the state’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns. The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering fund the extra patrols during weekends like this one, Thanksgiving and Christmastime.

Between Feb. 3 and Feb. 6, Hinsdale police arrested two people for driving with suspended or revoked licenses, cited four people for speeding, cited one person for talking on a cellphone while driving and charged four drivers for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

“Motorists should continue to heed the warning that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers,” Hinsdale Deputy Chief Erik Bernholdt said in a release. “We do it to save lives.”
