This Hinsdale Restaurant Wants To Serve Liquor
Eatery identifies competitor that already has liquor license.
HINSDALE, IL — YiaYia's Cafe is asking the Hinsdale Village Board for the right to serve liquor, noting its competitors already have licenses to do so.
One of the reasons the restaurant wants a license is to increase income.
"We have been severely impacted financially the last year with the pandemic," owner Demetrios Panos said in an email to the village. "Increasing revenue will help us keep the doors open."

Also, competitors such as Egg Harbor have liquor licenses, Panos said. Like Egg Harbor, YiaYia's serves breakfast and lunch. To stay competitive, he said, YiaYia's needs to serve liquor as well.
In the past, customers have requested mimosas and bloody marys, he said.

"The intent is not to have a 'full bar,'" he said. "Our intent is to serve mimosas, bellinis and bloody marys."
At its meeting Tuesday, the Hinsdale Village Board is set to consider a full service restaurant license for YiaYia's, 13 Grant Square.
