Hinsdale Sees Drop In Coronavirus Case Rate: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills saw the same percentage increases in coronavirus cases over the last week, according to county health agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,477 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 32 from a week before, or a 2.2 percent hike. The previous week's increase was 3.2 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 795 as of Sunday, up 17 from a week before, or a 2.2 percent increase. The village saw a 2.1 percent hike the week before.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths also stayed the same, at 12. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 83.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 72.8 in Darien, 76.7 in La Grange Park, 80.2 in Western Springs, 82.9 in DuPage Coun, 85.6 in Elmhurst, 90.8 in Clarendon Hills, 91.5 in suburban Cook County, 95.9 in Burr Ridge and 105.1 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,254,185, up 1.8 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,361 state residents.

Nationally, 30.4 million people have caught the virus, up 1.7 percent from the week before. A total of 552,829 people have died from the virus in the United States.
