Hinsdale Sees Drop In Virus Rate for 3rd Week In Row: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — For the third straight week, Hinsdale has seen its percentage increases in coronavirus cases drop, according to county health agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,496 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 19 from a week before, or a 1.3 percent hike. The previous two weeks were 2.2 percent and 3.2 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 820 as of Sunday, up 25 from a week before, or a 3 percent increase. The village saw a 2.2 percent hike the week before.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths also stayed the same, at 12. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 84.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 74.7 in Darien, 77 in La Grange Park, 82.8 in Western Springs, 84.7 in DuPage County, 87.7 in Elmhurst, 93.1 in suburban Cook County, 93.7 in Clarendon Hills, 98.2 in Burr Ridge and 107.6 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,279,772, up 2 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,505 state residents.

Nationally, 30.9 million people have caught the virus, up 1.5 percent from the week before. A total of 558,028 people have died from the virus in the United States.
