Hinsdale Sees Drop In Virus Rate: Agencies

Clarendon Hills experienced one more coronavirus death in the last week.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale saw its rate of new coronavirus cases drop in the last week, according to county health agencies. That was after two weeks in which the village saw the same rate — 2.1 percent.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,608 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 16 from a week before, or a 1 percent hike.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 853 as of Sunday, up eight from a week before, or a 0.9 percent increase. The village saw a 0.8 percent hike the previous week.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths increased by one in the last week, to 13. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 91.2 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 79.7 in Darien, 82.6 in La Grange Park, 89.4 in DuPage County, 89.8 in Western Springs, 92.4 in Elmhurst, 97.5 in Clarendon Hills, 99 in suburban Cook County, 102.1 in Burr Ridge and 115.2 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,354,967, up 1.3 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 22,223 state residents.

Nationally, 32.4 million people have caught the virus, up 0.9 percent from the week before. A total of 577,857 people have died from the virus in the United States.
