Hinsdale Sees Hike In Virus Rate: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale saw its percentage hike in coronavirus cases increase in the last week, according to county health agencies. The three previous weeks, it experienced drops.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,527 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 31 from a week before, or a 2.1 percent hike. The previous week, it was 1.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 828 as of Sunday, up eight from a week before, or a 1 percent increase. The village saw a 3 percent hike the week before.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths also stayed the same, at 12. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 86.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 76.3 in Darien, 79.2 in La Grange Park, 86.1 in DuPage County, 86.6 in Western Springs and Hinsdale, 89.3 in Elmhurst, 94.6 in Clarendon Hills, 94.8 in suburban Cook County, 99.6 in Burr Ridge and 109.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,299,575, up 1.6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,653 state residents.

Nationally, 31.4 million people have caught the virus, up 1.6 percent from the week before. A total of 563,216 people have died from the virus in the United States.
