Hinsdale Virus Rate Hikes Remain Low: County Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills continue to see low rates of increase in coronavirus cases, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,353 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 17 from a week before, or a 1.3 percent hike. The previous week's increase was 1 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 733 as of Sunday, up a dozen from a week before, or a 1.7 percent increase. The village saw the same hike the week before.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths also stayed the same, at 12. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 76.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 69.5 in Darien, 69.8 in La Grange Park, 73.1 in Western Springs, 78.6 in DuPage County, 79.9 in Elmhurst, 83.6 in Clarendon Hills, 87.2 in suburban Cook County, 91.7 in Burr Ridge and 97.6 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,198,335, up 1 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 20,763 state residents.

Nationally, 28.7 million people have caught the virus, up 1.5 percent from the week before. A total of 521,294 people have died from the virus in the United States.
