Hinsdale Virus Rate Levels Off Last 3 Weeks: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — For the last three weeks, Hinsdale has seen the same rate of increase in coronavirus cases, according to county health agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,592 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 33 from a week before, or a 2.1 percent hike. That was the same percentage hike for the two previous weeks.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 845 as of Sunday, up seven from a week before, or a 0.8 percent increase. The village saw a 1.2 percent hike the previous week.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths also stayed the same, at 12. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 90.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 79 in Darien, 81.5 in La Grange Park, 88.5 in DuPage County, 89.1 in Western Springs, 91.4 in Elmhurst, 96.5 in Clarendon Hills, 97.7 in suburban Cook County, 101.6 in Burr Ridge and 113.3 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,337,868, up 1.2 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21,992 state residents.

Nationally, 32.1 million people have caught the virus, up 1.1 percent from the week before. A total of 573,012 people have died from the virus in the United States.
