A Milestone In Pandemic For Hinsdale

HINSDALE, IL — For the first time since August, Hinsdale last week saw no new coronavirus cases, according to county health agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,652 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. That was the same number as a week before.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 878 as of Sunday, one more than a week before. In the week before last, the village experienced two new cases.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw two new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 93.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.3 in La Grange Park, 91.8 in DuPage County, 94.6 in Elmhurst, 98.9 in Western Springs, 100.3 in Clarendon Hills, 102.3 in suburban Cook County, 104.8 in Burr Ridge and 121.2 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,392,552, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,245.

Nationally, 33.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 603,018 people have died from the virus in the United States.
