New Long-Term Dance Classes at the Clarendon Hills Park District
On Your Toes With Dance Kids USA!
Young ballerinas, tap dancers, jazz and hip hop artists will truly be "on their toes" with the Clarendon Hills Park District's new long-term dance classes. These sessions will run on Thursday afternoons between September 12 and May 21, providing young dancers with the opportunity to participate in two recitals -- one in December of 2019 and the culminating program in May of 2020. (There is an additional fee for costumes.) Michelle Dawson of Dance Kids USA will lead all of these classes, bringing her talent, energy and exuberance to the Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center. Pre-ballet and Tap Level I is open to students ages 3-5, with dancers learning about rhythm, coordination, poise and grace in this combined class which will run between 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.. Pre-ballet and Tap Level II is for the more experienced dance student, with classes being offered between 2 p.m and 2:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoons. This class will emphasize technique improvement and more challenging ballet routines. Each of these classes has a $255.00 resident ($306.00 non-resident) for the entire eight months of instruction. Ballet and tap shoes are required for all students. The Clarendon Hills Park District will also run a Pre-Jazz and Hip-Hop class for young dancers ages 4-6 between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.. This combination class will bridge the gap between classical jazz and hip hop. This program can be a wonderful introduction to the world of dance. There is a $190.00 resident ($237.00 non-resident) fee for this class. All registration remains open at the Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, 315 E. Chicago Avenue.
