Pandemic Still In Retreat In Hinsdale: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills each saw two new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,652 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. In the week before the last one, the village saw one new case.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 877 as of Sunday. The village saw one new case in the week before last.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 59 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 93.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.2 in La Grange Park, 91.7 in DuPage County, 94.5 in Elmhurst, 98.9 in Western Springs, 100.2 in Clarendon Hills, 102.2 in suburban Cook County, 104.4 in Burr Ridge and 121 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,390,432, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,199.

Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.3 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 601,221 people have died from the virus in the United States.
