Six Cars Stolen from Hinsdale in Past Months

Residents are asked to lock their cars and hide any valuables inside.

HINSDALE, IL — Over the last couple of months, the Hinsdale Police Department has been investigating six separate incidents of motor vehicle theft.

These vehicles were easy targets as they were left unlocked with the ignition key left inside each vehicle. In more than half of the motor vehicle thefts, the areas targeted were in close proximity to major expressways.

One of the vehicles was recovered in a Cook County suburb and four vehicles in the City of Chicago. Evidence collected from the recovered vehicles included ammunition and items suggesting extensive drug use.

Information developed suggests these stolen vehicles are being used in the commission of other serious crimes in the City of Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

As a reminder, the Hinsdale Police Department is urging the community to remove valuables from the interior your vehicles and lock the doors, particularly during the overnight hours. By simply locking your vehicle, you can protect yourself from becoming a victim of this type of crime.
