Suspicious Men Spotted Outside Walker School, Prospect Park: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, MAY 16
Suspicious Person Outside Walker School
A woman said she saw a white male last week loitering on Walker School grounds on the 100 block of Walker Avenue while the kids were going outside for lunch. Her husband at 8:30 a.m. May 16 saw the same male at the corner of Harris and Holmes, according to a report. The responding officer asked her to call if she sees the male again on school grounds. The woman thought the sightings might be related to an incident with a male at Prospect Park that was reported May 15. See below.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15
Suspicious Person At Prospect Park
School District 181 sent out a flyer about an Asian male who approached children in Prospect Park. The man, dressed in business attire, asked what time the school opened and closed and what activities the school offered. The man did not make any lewd gestures, but parents were concerned because he approached children while no adults were present. Police were not able to make contact with the man, but the district sent out a flyer to inform parents about the incident.

No More Smoking Joints
A man told police he was visiting his girlfriend and had just smoked park of a joint at 1:56 p.m. in one of the train commuter lots in the village, according to a report. The responding officer destroyed the other part of the joint on the tracks. The man was warned and sent on a train to Union Station.
FRIDAY, MAY 10
Stranger Whistles at 10-Year-Old Girls
A four-door vehicle drove up to some 10-year-old girls and someone inside whistled at them while they were riding their bikes, police said. The incident occurred at 7:55 p.m. on the 100 block of Oxford Avenue. The girls ran inside and the parent reporting the incident noticed that the vehicle pulled up on the front apron of a driveway. The vehicle appeared to be an older model and a tan color, but no one was able to give any further description. An officer said police would keep an extra watch in the area.
