VHS to DVD Business Woman Danna Durkin

Danna Durkin looked with despair at more than 100 VHS cartridges. All 100 tapes are now on DVD and she wants to help you.

Danna Durkin looked with despair at more than 100 VHS cartridges piled every which way in a seldom-opened cabinet. She forgot what most of them were about. She knew they included movies of family, friends, and community theatre plays, and she was desperate to convert them to a safer format.

Knowing VHS tapes disintegrate after 30 years, she tried a few different approaches, and through trial and error, she found a method that was effective and safe. All 100 tapes are now on DVD.

“I found a more direct way to copy VHS and Hi8 tapes to DVD and vinyl records to CDs,” she said. “After transferring all my personal VHS tapes to DVDs, I was now prepared to do the same for others.”

She created a website and decided on pricing. Customers can mail their tapes to Durkin, drop them off at her home, or decide on a mutually agreeable place to meet. The usual turn-around time is one week. Larger jobs may take longer.

“VHS tapes carry a lot of emotions,” Durkin said. “Once on DVD, upcoming generations can enjoy watching them.”
