Wallet Stolen At Store, Heroin Arrest: Hinsdale Cops

A woman's wallet was stolen from her shopping cart, with nearly $2,000 in fraudulent charges later reported, police say.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the police reports:

  • A woman told police that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Whole Foods, 500 E. Ogden Ave. The wallet contained her driver's license, credit cards, a checkbook and about $200 in cash. She reported four fraudulent charges on her credit cards after the theft, totaling $1,986.
  • Adan M. Ibarra, 35, of Bolingbrook, was arrested about 3 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of North Washington Street on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a police report, Ibarra was observed to be under the influence of drugs and possessed a substance that field tested positive for heroin. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A windshield was cracked by an unknown blunt object between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday while it was parked in the parking lot in the 10 block of South Vine Street. The incident was reported two days later.
  • Samanta Cardona Cardenas, 25, of Cicero, was cited about 2 p.m. April 27 in the 5500 block of South Grant Street on charges of reckless driving, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, failure to signal (three counts) and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • An unlocked bicycle was stolen from a bike rack between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday at Hinsdale Middle School, 100 S. Washington St. The bike was valued at $790. The case is pending.
  • Michael A. Chappetto, 44, of Evergreen Park, was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday at Oak Street and Ogden Avenue on charges of DUI and speeding. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
