Car Theft, Drugs, DUIs: Hinsdale Police Blotter

A stolen car, fake drug prescriptions and drug arrests were all on the blotter this week.

The following items were taken from the Hinsdale police blotter throughout the past week. Arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Trespassing

  • A known person entered a resident’s home in the 100 block of North Madison Street on Feb. 17 without permission and was charged by police. The incident took place during a child custody exchange, they said.

  • Tyler G. Martin, 26, of 323 W. 57th St., was arrested Feb. 20 after forging a doctor’s signature to get behind-the-counter medicine at a pharmacy on Feb. 15. Martin allegedly faked a signature on a prescription pad and gained access to drugs that way. He was taken into custody when he returned to Hinsdale Hospital for an unrelated purpose.

DUI

  • Lazo P. Gastevski, 65, was stopped the afternoon of Feb. 19 for speeding and improper lane usage and was arrested when cops determined he was driving drunk. An open container of alcohol was found in his car, and he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test onsite. Gastevski, who’s from Westmont, was released that day to later appear in court.

  • A 2017 Audi Q5 was stolen from a Mobil gas pumping station at 8 W. Chicago Ave. between 5:35 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. Feb. 18, police reported. The keys to the Audi had been left inside the car while the driver was paying for gas.

Theft

  • An unknown person reportedly “borrowed” a $27 hand cart from a valet in the parking lot of 908 N. Elm St. and failed to return it, resulting in a theft charge. Police are looking for the suspect, who was described as a white male in his 30s wearing a striped polo shirt and khaki pants.

Drugs, fraud

  • Stewart Hinton IV, 30, was stopped by police at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 14 for running a stop sign and charged when he was found to be in possession of both marijuana and what cops believed to be a fraudulent debit card. He was released to appear in court, and police are still investigating the card.
