2 H-F Baseball Stars Selected In MLB Draft

Zaid Walker was selected by the Cincinnati Reds and Kyle Salley by the Chicago White Sox in this week's MLB Draft.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - Two members of the Homewood-Flossmoor High School baseball team were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this week. Outfielder Zaid Walker was picked in the 36th round, 1,069th overall by the Cincinnati Reds and Pitcher Kyle Salley was taken in the 40th round, 1,188th overall by the Chicago White Sox.

Both Walker and Salley graduated from H-F last week and have commitments to continue their academic and baseball careers at major NCAA Division I colleges. Walker has made a commitment to Michigan State University, while Salley is bound for Duke University.

According to MLB Draft Tracker, Walker is a rightfielder who throws and bats with his right hand. He's 6'2" and 215 lbs. at age 18. A prospect video made on his abilities has been shared by MLB.com here.

Salley is a left-handed pitcher who throws and bats with his left hand. The 18-year-old is 5'9" and 176 lbs. He was a 2017 Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention selection and in his junior year at H-F struck out 46 batters in 39.1 innings, according to Duke Sports Information.
