"The pandemic made many organizations work creatively this past year. Traditionally, Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School offers a live spring play in early May in its Mall Auditorium. With social-distancing and capacity challenges in the spring, this was not possible. Nevertheless, the school’s theatre department worked to provide a performance opportunity for its talented students and an entertainment option for the greater H-F community," the school stated in its announcement.

According to the high school, the play is based on a book by Kyle Holmes, with music and lyrics by David Taylor Gomes. The show tells the story of a dystopian world where competition reaches new heights as publicized academic excellence defines each student’s worth, according to the school.
