22 Speeding Tickets Written During Tri-State Tollway Crackdown

Illinois State Police' three-day patrol on I-294/I-80 also yielded one DUI and two occupant restraint citations.

COOK COUNTY — Illinois state police wrote 22 speeding tickets and issued a number of other citations during a three-day "enforcement patrol" on the Tri-State Tollway (I-80/I-294) in Cook County the final week of June.

The nighttime campaign from June 26-28 on the Tri-State also yielded two occupant restraint citations, one driving under the influence arrest, one drug or alcohol related arrest and five speeding warning.

It was part of a larger enforcement patrol by state police that also included crackdowns on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway in Cook and Kane counties, the Reagan Memorial Tollway in DuPage County and the Veterans Memorial Tollway in DuPage and Will counties.

In all, state police issued 52 speeding tickets, five occupant restraint citations, one DUI, six drug/alcohol arrests and 13 written speeding warnings.

Numbers from the planned DUI crackdown at the Tri-State Tollway's Halsted Street overpass in East Hazel Crest on July 3 were not yet available on the Monday after the Independence Day holiday.
