'Barrels of Hope' Coming Soon To Flossmoor

The barrels, with positive messages on them, will be displayed in Flossmoor starting this July, and will remain on display until September.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Flossmoor is taking on a new initiative. According to the village, a project called "Barrels of Hope" will bring local artists together for an inspiring message of hope.

The project is modeled after the northern Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Project. It will have local artists engage in painting barrels with messages of "hope and inspiration."

The village said that these barrels will be displayed in Flossmoor starting this July, and will remain on display until September. Bids to take the art home will be placed via online auction, according to the village.

Flossmoor's Public Art Commission previewed the program with six barrels in 2020 featuring local artists.

"Like Flossmoor’s statues and parks, the painted barrels were eye-catching pieces of art that help attract people to our beautiful community!" the village stated.

According to the village, the barrels, which were used to brew craft beer at Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, were donated by the restaurant for the program. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Flossmoor Public Art Commission, which places outdoor sculpture through the community, the village said.

"Special thanks for sponsors Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery and Homewood Auto Body," the village said.
