Shooting On Bishop Ford Expressway Wounds Dolton Man

A 36-year-old man took himself to an area hospital after he was hit by gunfire on the interstate near Michigan City Road.

CALUMET PARK, IL — State police are investigating an overnight shooting on the Bishop Ford Expressway. A 36-year-old man from Dolton suffered what's considered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and took himself to the hospital, police said.

Police responded to the southbound lanes of Interstate 94 near Michigan City Road at 2:42 a.m. A preliminary report indicates multiple shots were fired at the victim's car from another car.

The southbound lanes were closed, with traffic being diverted to westbound Sibley Boulevard in the area for about a half-hour. All lanes were re-opened before 6 a.m.

Also on the Bishop Ford overnight, traffic reporter Bill West reported two separate crashes briefly shut down northbound lanes before they too were re-opened before 6 a.m.

State police ask anyone who witnessed the shooting to call the ISP at 847-294-4400. Callers can remain anonymous.
