Body in Burning Car Identified as Flossmoor Teen

The body of a young man was found Monday afternoon in a burning car in Homewood.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Police and firefighters responding to a burning car in Patriots Park Monday afternoon found a body inside after the fire was extinguished. The body was identified as Hunter S. Craig, 18, of Flossmoor. His death was ruled a suicide.

Homewood Police and Fire Department responded to a report of a car fully engulfed in flames at the park, 1300 187th St., at 2:14 p.m. After putting out the fire, a body was found inside the car. The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation with assistance from the Homewood Fire Department, Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, according to a village news release.
