Rescue Crews Suspend Search for Car in Pond

Video shows search crews at the pond in Lynwood. They searched for hours but were unable to retrieve the car or see if anyone was inside.

LYNWOOD, IL — Rescue crews are on scene Sunday afternoon in south suburban Lynwood, where two people are believed to be trapped inside a car that has driven into a pond. As of 7 p.m. the search is reportedly suspended.

The incident occurred near the 3000 block of East Lincoln Highway, according to ABC Chicago report. The car was located just after 3 p.m. The first calls about a car in a pond were received at 12:30 p.m.

Divers from several departments, who worked in shifts, were unable to latch onto the car to remove the vehicle from the pond. It's not clear yet whether bodies were inside the car.
