Date For Tree Lighting At Irwin Park In Homewood Set

A number of events are planned to kickoff the holiday season in Homewood on Saturday, Dec. 6.

HOMEWOOD, IL — This winter's tree lighting in Homewood is set for Friday, Dec. 6 at Irwin Park. A number of festivities are planned for that time to bring in the holiday season in Homewood.

"Holiday Lights in Homewood" will feature free rides on a Polar Express electric trackless train, the Martin Avenue Outdoor Market opening, several food vendors, an antique carousel, music by the Southwest Community Brass Ensemble sponsored by Kirschner Vision Group and an ice sculpting demonstration by Nadeau’s Ice Sculptures at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

St. Joseph’s Athletic Committee and South Suburban Family Shelter will sponsor a holiday craft for kids. Also available are holiday souvenir mugs with or without mulled wine from Homewood’s Economic Development and Community Relations Committees.

An antique car parade at 7 p.m. will come right before the tree lighting. Santa and his friends will arrive on a fire engine to flip the switch.

Traffic will be closed on Ridge Road during the festival.
