Dozens Of Runners From Homewood And Flossmoor Finish 2017 Chicago Marathon
See the final times for all Bank of America Chicago Marathon finishers from Homewood and Flossmoor.
CHICAGO, IL — A record number of runners took part in the 40th anniversary of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday. Twenty-two were from Homewood and 19 were from Flossmoor. More than 43,000 signed up and finished the 26.2-mile race through the streets of Chicago on Sunday. The race went through 29 neighborhoods and was met with fanfare from residents in Pilsen, Chinatown, Boystown and other popular sections of the city.
For the first time since 2002, an American won the marathon. Galen Rupp won the race with a time of 02:09:20. Tirunesh Dibaba, from Ethiopia, won the women's race with a 02:18:31 time.
