FLOSSMOOR, IL — The Village of Flossmoor is closing roads around town to prepare for the Hidden Gem Half-Marathon Saturday.
The race starts at 7:45 a.m. at Infant Jesus of Prague Church, 2733 Flossmoor Rd. To prepare, the village is closing road to most traffic. Runners will travel west on Flossmoor Road and then through the Baythorne, Ballantrae, and Flossmoor Hills and Highlands before turning back east to wind through Heather Hill, Flossmoor Estates, Flossmoor Park and Old Flossmoor. The major thoroughfares (Flossmoor Road, Kedzie and Governors) will be closed to ensure the safety of the runners. Some begin as early as Friday.
Residents who live along the race routes will have limited access in and out of their driveways. They are asked to follow instructions of course marshals who will be directing race traffic at intersections.
