H-F School Alum Recruited To Gov. State University's Soccer Team
Flossmoor's Alyssa Rosales is the first alum of Homewood-Flossmoor High School to be recruited to the Jaguars.
HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — Governors State University's women's soccer team has announced its first group of recruits for the 2021 season. One of the athletes is making history as the first woman to have graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School to be recruited to play for the Jaguars, according to a news release from the university.
The university's recruitment comes after its best season to date has ended, according to the release. A total of eight student-athletes will be wearing orange and black for the first time this fall, including Flossmoor's Alyssa Rosales.
The defensive soccer player has played four seasons at Homewood-Flossmoor High School and was also a two-year performer at South Suburban College. According to the university, Rosales will be the very first player from Homewood-Flossmoor High School to play soccer for the Jaguars.

"We have brought in a competitive group of players, many of whom I have coached before on the club level at Indiana Elite," said GSU Head Coach Ante Cop. "Our program has been getting stronger each season and the players we have signed will definitely keep us moving in the right direction."

Daisy Bonilla, MF (Hammond, IN) — An Indiana native, Bonilla starred at Morton High School in Hammond and is a product of the Indiana Elite FC club program. She started playing soccer at age six.
Kaylie Dahms, MF (Plainfield, IL) — Dahms played four seasons at Plainfield Central High School, where she was also a state qualifier in tennis. An honor roll student, Dahms's club soccer team was Galaxy SC.
Veronica Davila, MF (Bourbonnais, IL) — If the last name looks familiar, it's because Veronica's brother played two seasons at GSU. Another Indiana Elite FC alumna, Davila played two seasons for powerhouse Bradley Bourbonnais High School.
Lesly Gaytan, D (Justice, IL) — A Chicago native, Gaytan won a top defender award at Solorio Academy High School, where she played four varsity seasons. She plans to major in criminal justice at GSU.
Rebecca Mercado, MF (Chicago, IL) — Born and raised in Chicago, Mercado (pronounced: Mer-kah-doe) patrolled the midfield for one season at Lincoln Park High School. She also competed for Indiana Elite FC and was attracted to GSU's program for its family-like atmosphere.
Mickey Parker, D (Crown Point, IN) — Hailing from Crown Point, Indiana — where the Jaguars play home games — Parker helped the Crown Point High School soccer team to a sectional title. She also ran track for the Bulldogs and developed her game at Indiana Elite FC.
Jasmine Quezada, F/MF (Crete, IL) — Quezada, who can play either the forward or midfielder positions, is coming off a two-year career at Moraine Valley Community College. Hailing from nearby Crete, she played prep soccer at Thornton Fractional North High School and club ball for Chicago Fire Juniors City.
