HF Youth Hockey Had A Busy Week
The HF Vikings Youth Hockey Association Held Its 1st Golf Outing, Annual Registration and Water Drive All This Past Week

To say that the HF Vikings Youth Hockey Association has had a busy week would be an understatement. On Sunday, August 18th they held their first Annual Vikings Hockey Golf Classic at Coyote Run Golf Course in Flossmoor. While Mother Nature tried her best to dampen the outing Sunday morning, the event was still able to be played as the weather cleared for the 1:30pm shotgun start. 79 golfers came out to enjoy beautiful weather in the afternoon and another 20 joined the group for dinner. At the end of the day they were all able to help raise over $4,500 for the organization. That money will go directly back into the program which is ran by the HF Park District. The event would not have been possible without the help from their sponsors and the great staff at Coyote Run Golf Course and Wiley’s Grill.
The Vikings followed that up with their annual Registration Weekend with returning players registering on Saturday, August 24th and new players registering on Sunday, August 25th. The program attracted well over 100 players again this year and they will once again field teams from the developmental level (5-6 year olds) all the way to Bantams (13-14 year olds). Evaluations are September 7th and 8th and their NWHL season kicks off with ther first games the weekend of September 28th.
The HF Youth Vikings Hockey Board used registration day to ask for water / supply donations for University Park residents who still have lead in their water. Nix-Nax Activewear in Homewood was a drop off point during the week for residents who could not donate on Saturday. When it was all said and done, the Organization was able to deliver 4 SUV’s packed to the brim with water and supplies to the University Park Fire Department from where they will be distributed to residents in the village.
