Homewood Businesses Close Due To Potential Vandalism In Area

The Village of Homewood announced businesses on Halsted will close until further notice due to the potential of looting and vandalism.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR — The Village of Homewood announced on Facebook that businesses on Halsted will be closed until further notice due to the potential of vandalism and looting in the area.

The village stated that after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, all businesses must remain closed with no indicated reopening date. Alongside businesses closing, on and off expressway ramps that lead to the Halsted Street expressway interchange will also be closed.

One witness told Patch that they saw Home Depot was closed on Halsted, along with nearby roads. In May, Halsted street closed off many businesses as a precaution, as previously reported by Patch.

The village noted that there is no immediate danger but said these measures are simply precautionary.
