Homewood PD Becomes Internet Purchase Exchange Location

This new feature comes as the Homewood Police Department entered a partnership agreement with OfferUp.

HOMEWOOD, IL — When purchasing or selling materials online, it is important to be cautious. The Homewood Police Department has come up with a way to make buyers and sellers in town feel a bit more safe when doing so.

The Homewood Police Department has entered a partnership with OfferUp to become an official Internet Purchase Exchange Location. Offerup is an online mobile-first C2C marketplace with an emphasis on in-person transactions. The site was founded as a competitor to Craigslist, but is different since it offers a mobile-friendly app and user profiles that involve ratings.

"We encourage you to use our facilities to safely meet up with buyers and sellers of internet sales," The police department wrote on Facebook.
