Homewood's Outdoor Farmers Market Opens May 25

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood will be celebrating the bounty of local farmers at the weekly outdoor farmers markets in May.

The Farmers Market on Martin Avenue Square kicks off May 25, and runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 12. It is free and open to the public.

The popular Wednesday night market opens June 12 and runs through August 14 from 4 to 9 p.m.

Opening day festivities on May 25 include the James Hart Junior High band, and for the kids, Mary Macaroni presents her balloon magic 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dominic Ruffalo will perform his crowd- pleasing favorites from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There also will be a toddler tent filled with age-appropriate activities. Patrons can also pick-up new Homewood Farmers Market reusable bags.

Both markets feature regional farmers, non-profit organization booths, live music, children’s crafts, yoga and other goodies. One Saturday a month features the Hunt & Gather market for unique vintage and hand-crafted wares, as well as PopUpSCIENCE by the Homewood Science Center.
