Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) is now accepting new students to the beginner ensemble, Incredible Opportunity Program (IOP), for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

To join, student applicants must submit an essay, "Why I Want to Play the Violin," to thesyso@gmail.com.

Classes are held Sunday afternoons, 3-4pm, beginning in August, and run through the beginning of May. Instruction will be given in small group of no more than 10 students. If restrictions are still in place, classes will be streamed on our facebook page. Once in-person rehearsals are possible, classes will resume at St. Peter's Church in Frankfort. Total program cost is $280 plus a $15 materials fee (book and shoulder pad). A rental violin will be provided if needed at no additional cost.

The Incredible Opportunity Program (IOP) is our beginner ensemble, a group violin instruction class, for students ages 8-13 who do not already play a string instrument.

Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra is currently a string orchestra only and a 503c not for profit organization. Students attend weekly Sunday rehearsals. Students also receive enrichment experiences such as reduced prices to area professional concerts by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. Students are asked to perform 4 times during the season: Holiday concert, Chamber concert, Pre-Concert with Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, and Spring Concert.
