Nominations Open For Homewood Chevrolet Free Car Giveaway

Homewood Chevrolet is looking for submissions on those most deserving of a 2018 Chevrolet Sonic.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Nominations are open for what has become an annual tradition of good will at the Homewood Chevrolet dealership. The dealership is looking for the next recipient of a free new vehicle and are looking for those who are in the most need.

"We are giving away a 2018 Chevrolet," Steve Phillipos, president of Homewood Chevrolet, said in a promotional video released in November. "And we are going to ask everyone out there to help us. (The winner) doesn't have to be a Homewood resident. Anyone you know of, whether it's yourself, a neighbor, a friend or someone you met on the bus who is less fortunate. Give us their name and their story."

Nomination stories must be 200 words or less and be focused on why you or the person you're nominating deserves the car. Explain why winning a new car would change the person's life.

Voting will take place the week of Dec. 18 by the Homewood Chevy staff. The winner will get their 2018 Chevrolet on Christmas Eve.

There's no purchase necessary. Nominations do not have to come from previous customers and there will be no credit check.

"This program was created specifically to give back to our community without getting anything in return," a Homewood Chevrolet spokeswoman said.

It's the fourth year that the dealership has held this contest. Last year, a Chicago mother of five called it "a blessing" to be awarded a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic. READ MORE: New Car, Strangers' Holiday Generosity Stuns Homeless Mom

It was a CTA bus driver who nominated the winner last year. This year, it could be anybody.

"Help us change somebody's life," Phillipos said.
