Rising Retail Theft In Homewood: Police Reports

In less than 30 days, the Village of Homewood has had six instances of retail theft within the town, according to police reports.

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood Police Department has reported six instances of retail theft within the village in the past 30 days.

Officers have reported instances occurring in places like Walmart, Home Depot, Jewel and more. Here is more information on thefts from Oct. 20 to Nov. 5, according to police records.

Brandon Jackson, 37, of Glenwood, was accused of committing retail theft by stashing items from view and leaving the store, according to police. The items totaled a value of $781.06. The theft took place at Menards, located at, 17545 S. Halsted St. on Oct. 20 just past 5:20 p.m., police reports say.

Bobby Carter, 66 of Kankakee, was accused of hiding an item in a shopping cart and leaving the store without paying for it, according to police. The item was valued at $24.00, according to the police report. The incident took place at Walmart, located at 17550 S. Halsted St. on Oct. 20 just past 7:20 p.m., according to reports.

Jeremiah Nesbitt, 30 of Sauk Village, was accused of taking an item and exiting the store without paying for it, according to police. The item had a retail value of $329.00, according to police reports. The theft occurred at Home Depot located at 17845 S Halsted St. on Oct. 24 at 7:45 a.m., according to police.

According to police reports, Nesbitt also committed theft on Oct. 27 at 12:15 p.m. at Jewel, 3153 W 183rd St. Police said the total value of the items Nesbitt took were valued at $194.97.

Tyrone Sherman, 27 of Homewood, was accused of retail theft and resisting a police officer just past 2 p.m. on Oct. 24, according to police. Sherman took an item from Kohls, 17920 S. Halsted St, that has a retail value of $44.99, police said.

Police said Sherman was spotted in a vehicle and refused to listen to directions from officers, then left the area. According to police, the vehicle was found at his residence moments later. Police said Sherman fled on foot when he was advised he was under arrest, and he was taken into custody a short time later.

Wardell Bobo, 49 of Chicago, was accused of theft and criminal trespassing, according to police reports. Police said Bobo took an item from Jewel, 17705 S Halsted St., which has a retail value of $10.99. Bobo had previously been told that he was not allowed on the premises, police said. The incident occurred on Nov. 5 around 5:15 p.m, according to police.
