South Suburban College Extends COVID Drive-Thru Testing
The drive-thru testing site will be extended through December, according to the college.
HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — South Suburban College has signed an agreement with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) that will continue free COVID-19 testing on its main campus through the end of December.
The college said the intergovernmental agreement will extend the testing conducted at 15800 S. State St., South Holland to through Dec. 31. Daily testing is available from 8-4 p.m. and a security detail will continue to be established while testing is open, according to the college.
"This is great news for our SSC employees and students, and for our organizational partners and residents," said Frank M. Zuccarelli, chairman of the SSC board of trustees. "We have heard from our community about the convenience of this site helping them to better deal with the challenges of the pandemic. We are pleased to offer this support for the remainder of this year."

The college said COVID-19 drive-thru testing is conducted by HR Support in the SSC Fitness Center’s east parking lot seven days a week. Tents are visible and cars can enter from 159th Street or State Street.

- Testing is available all and is not exclusive to Illinois residents.
- Testing is available for all ages (with parental consent)
- State-issued I.D. is required to be tested.
- Testing will now be conducted via nasal swab. The college said this is painless compared to the nasopharyngeal test.
- Results are delivered by phone within four to seven business days.
The college said the drive-thru route will still be limited to the south side of campus, near the athletic fields. Employees, students and visitors will access the Main Campus through 158th Street and north lots and entrances.
