Mayor Calling for Video Tributes
HAZEL CREST — The Southland Partnership is calling for video submissions for its February 11th memorial to honor those lost to COVID-19 across the Chicago Southland.
Hazel Crest Mayor Vernard L. Alsberry Jr., Executive Director of the Southland Partnership, and the Full Gospel Christian Assemblies International are planning “A Moment of Remembrance: Love Never Dies, a COVID-19 Memorial” to be livestreamed on Facebook.
“This Memorial is to honor those family members, friends and loved ones we have lost to the COVID-19 virus in 2020. As we anticipate the mass distribution of the vaccine, we want to remember those lost too soon,’’ said Mayor Alsberry.
The videos should be a minute or less and should feature participants lighting a candle or holding a lit candle with a picture of the person or people being honored. May be recorded (horizontally) on cell phones.
Please include your name:
• The name of the person or individuals you are honoring.
• Your relationship with that person or the group of individuals you are honoring.
• When and where they passed.
Example: "My name is Bill James and I am honoring my sister, Mary James with this candle. Mary passed from the COVID-19 virus on December 12, 2020 at Wilson's Nursing Home.
Videos should be emailed to: southlandmemorial@gmail.com by Feb. 6, 2021.
