HOMEWOOD, IL —Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle treated the state's Little League runners-up — the Homewood Heights Little League — to a White Sox game last month.

She joined the young baseball players, their coaches and parents for an evening at Guaranteed Rate Field watching the Chicago White Sox play the Minnesota Twins. Her special assistant, Aldophus Al Kindle, worked with Homewood Heights President Brian Andreatta to make this happen.

“The accomplishment of this team, representing Cook County on a statewide level, shows that there’s good things going on in our community," Preckwinkle said in a statement. "When I got here and met everyone, I was inspired by the diversity and camaraderie. It feels good to honor them for going all the way to the title game.”

During the White Sox game, the kids caught four foul balls, were featured on the giant scoreboard, and were announced before the start of an inning. The players took time to enjoy the highest level of baseball, seeing great pitching, fielding and hitting.

“We appreciate the kindness and acknowledgements from the tremendous folks at the Cook County Board, Toni Preckwinkle, Al Kindle and their team that made this happen for our boys," Andreatta said.
