Water Main Break In Homewood Had 183rd Street Closed For Hours

HOMEWOOD, IL - A water main break has closed a significant portion of 183rd Street in Homewood Friday morning. The break, which occurred near 183rd and Center Avenue, has caused "extensive damage to the pavement," according to the village of Homewood.

Public Works crews worked through the night and into the morning to put down temporary asphalt in the area that was damage. 183rd Street was reopened to traffic around 11:30 a.m.

A village employee said just before 9 a.m. that the closure on 183rd extended from Riegel Road to Halsted Street.
