2016 RBC Race for the Kids at Comer Children's Hospital

Expect street closures this weekend for the race.

The 2016 RBC Race for the Kids at Comer Children’s Hospital will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., on the University of Chicago campus in Hyde Park. The family-friendly event includes a 5K Run/Walk, Kids’ Dash (ages 2-6) and Kids’ Mile (K-8th grade), and is expected to attract more than 2,000 participants.

Comer Children's is dedicated to serving the health needs of the community, furthering the knowledge of health care professionals and others devoted to children and changing how we treat childhood diseases.

On-site registration will be available the morning of the race, October 16, 2016 starting at 7:30 a.m. on the University of Chicago Main Quad.

Race times and street closure and reopening times include (via Hyde Park Herald):

  • Streets that are part of the course will be closed at 8:15 a.m.
  • The 5K begins at 9 a.m.
  • 8th Street between University Drive and Woodlawn Avenue will reopen by 9:10 a.m.
  • Woodlawn Avenue between 58th Street and Midway Plaisance will reopen by 9:15 a.m.
  • 9th Street between Woodlawn Avenue and Cottage Grove Avenue will reopen by 9:25 a.m.
  • Cottage Grove Avenue between 59th Street and the Midway Plaisance will reopen by 9:25 a.m.
  • The Midway Plaisance between Woodlawn Avenue and Stony Island Avenue will reopen by 9:30 a.m.
  • The Kids Mile begins at 9:45 a.m.
  • Stony Island Avenue between the Midway Plaisance and 56th Street will reopen by 9:55 a.m.
  • 56th Street between Stony Island Avenue and Harper Avenue will reopen by 10:05 a.m.
  • Due to the Kids’ Mile race, 57th Street remains closed for the longest period of time, but should reopen no later that 10:15 a.m.
