Darrow Bridge Project Slated To Begin In 2019

The Chicago Department of Transportation has the Darrow Bridge restoration on its list of projects to begin in 2019.

CHICAGO, IL - The long neglected Clarence Darrow Memorial Bridge in Jackson Park will soon be restored. The Chicago Department of Transportation has the project on its list to begin work in 2019 and has budgeted for it to be completed sometime in 2020.

A CDOT spokesman said the project is still in its "design phase." CDOT plans to provide an update to the public once a set design has been set.

The bridge, which crosses the Jackson Park lagoon just south of the Museum of Science and Industry, has been closed to cars for about a decade and to pedestrians for a few years as well.

Once restored and open, the bridge will be accessible to pedestrians but not cars (emergency vehicles only).
