Captain Darryl Moore died in an apparent drowning in Jackson Park early Monday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - An off-duty Chicago Fire Department captain died overnight from what fire officials say was an apparent drowning at the Jackson Park Harbor. Captain Darryl Moore had been with the CFD since the 1980s, according to updates made on the fire department's social media accounts.
"It is with sadness that we report the death of CFD Captain Darryl Moore of Truck 40 who died from an apparent drowning at Jackson Park harbor while off duty," the department wrote on Twitter around 5 a.m.
Moore, 55, was attending an end-of-summer boat party when he apparently walked off the boat and onto the pier, according to a report from ABC-7. A search turned up his recovered body in the early morning hours on Monday.
