Halloween Events Planned In Hyde Park 1 Year After Clash
Neighborhood volunteers have made a plan to keep Halloween in Hyde Park safe after youth clashed with police on 53rd Street last year.

CHICAGO, IL - An effort of neighborhood volunteers are trying to make sure Halloween in Hyde Park is safe this year. A range of events planned for the weekend have been organized as a response to concerns stemming from an unfortunate situation in the neighborhood on the holiday last year, an ABC-7 report notes.
Volunteers in orange shirts will line 53rd Street and the evening of Halloween to welcome teenagers. The Harper Theater will give out discounted movie tickets and there will be a DJ and party at the Midway Plaisance on the night of Halloween. A peace fest will kickoff the weekend events on Friday night at Promontory Point.
The events are a response to Halloween last year, when neighborhood residents witnessed a clash between police, students and teenagers on 53rd Street.
