Pianist and DePauw University Professor of Music May Phang performs at the University of Chicago
Pianist May Phang presents an afternoon performance on the weekly Tea Time Concert Series Thursday, April 19 at 4:30 p.m. in Fulton Recital Hall.
Phang, currently the John Rabb Emison Professor of Creative and Performing Arts and Professor of Piano at DePauw University, Indiana, has given performances that have been described as “vibrant,” “colorful,” and “evocative.” A former teaching artist with Young Audiences of Indiana, Phang is artist faculty at Interharmony Italy and continues to frequently adjudicate competitions and present masterclasses nationally and internationally. Her music encompasses a wide range of repertoire, from Bach and LIszt to Libby Larsen and Chen Yi.
The concert program will include works by Austrian composer and virtuoso pianist Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Romantic era composer and pianist François Chopin.

The concert takes place in Fulton Recital Hall at 1010 E. 59th Street in Goodspeed Hall on the 4th floor. Complimentary cookies and tea will be served before the concert at 4:15 p.m., with music beginning at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit music.uchicago.edu.
