Presidents Day 2017: What's Open And Closed In Hyde Park

CHICAGO, IL — Like Columbus Day in October, Presidents Day — celebrated annually the third Monday of February — is one of those tricky national holidays that is hard to know which businesses and services are open and operating and which aren't.
Although it's a federal holiday, most retailers around the city will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.
Here's a look at how Presidents Day will affect institutions and services around Chicago:

Schools: No classes for Chicago Public Schools.
City Government: City Hall and city offices will be closed. County, state and federal government offices will be closed, too.
Chicago Public Library: All branches will be closed.
Chicago Park District: Although the district's offices will be closed, most parks will be open but with reduced holiday hours. Go to the district's website for more information.
Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.
Banks: Most financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.
CTA and Metra: Trains and buses for the transportation agencies will be running on normal Monday schedules.
