Protesters Want University Of Chicago Police Disarmed

Protesters gathered outside at the University of Chicago in response to a police involved shooting of a student near campus.

CHICAGO, IL — Dozens of students at the University of Chicago led a protest rally on campus Friday, demanding the school’s police force be disarmed, and more funding be dedicated to mental health services, after a 21-year-old student was shot by police this week.

The student protesters said they’re angry over many incidents, including Tuesday’s police shooting just north of campus, and believe officers should have handled Tuesday night’s incident without resorting to gunfire.
