Ray Wins National Physical Activity Award

The awards are a part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign.

Ray Elementary School, 5631 S. Kimbark Ave., won the 2016 Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award. Ray is one of 544 schools nationwide and one of 10 schools in the CPS District 299 to receive the award, the top physical activity and physical education distinction for K-12 schools.

The Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award, started in 2013 by First Lady Michelle Obama, celebrates a school’s commitment to integrating at least 60 minutes of physical activity before, during and after the school day; physical activity during school; staff involvement; and family & community engagement.

To earn a Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award, a school must have met significant benchmarks in five areas: physical education; physical activity before- and after-school; physical activity during school; staff involvement; and family & community engagement.
