Rolling Stones’ Darryl Jones to Lead Local Benefit Concert

Performance at the Promontory to benefit Chicago musician Brian Messiah

CHICAGO – Sept. 24, 2018 – Chicago native and musician Darryl Jones, who has toured and recorded with the Rolling Stones since 1993, will headline a local concert Oct. 21 to benefit his childhood friend and fellow musician Brian Messiah, who was paralyzed more than a year ago following an accident.

Organized by Messiah’s son and a group of local musicians and friends, The Jams from The Heart concert will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Promontory performance venue, 5311 S. Lake Park Ave. W. Proceeds from the event will go toward Messiah’s expensive medical treatment and continuing care with the goal of helping Messiah heal so he can one day play guitar again.

Jones, who replaced longtime band member Bill Wyman as bassist for the Rolling Stones, also has performed with Miles Davis, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton and Madonna, as well as Chicago musicians Ghallib Ghallab, Ken Chaney, Otis Clay, and Phil Upchurch.

In addition to Jones, the concert will feature Nicholas Tremulis, Bernard Crump, Chuck Tripp, Brian Reynolds, Keith Henderson, Perry Wilson, “The Doctor” Curtis Robinson, and other musicians.

The event also will include a raffle and auction of Rolling Stones memorabilia and a bass guitar from Jones’ personal collection. Other prizes will include tickets to sporting events, restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, and spa packages.
